The
Enough Abuse Campaign was developed in Massachusetts
by a collaborative whose efforts have been described
by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC) as ‘trailblazing’. In 2003, Missouri
leaders came together to form the Missouri Child Sexual
Abuse Prevention Partnership and voted to join Massachusetts
in developing the Campaign. New approaches to prevention
are being evaluated in these Missouri communities – St.
Joseph, Phelps
County, Ripley County, Independence and Barceda
Families.
In
collaboration with the Partnership, a broad range of
local organizations in these communities are leading
the way in efforts to prevent child sexual abuse. These
organizations and those who lead them represent the best
of what our state has to offer – deep
dedication to children and their well being, and courage
to find effective strategies to solve a complex and challenging
problem. The Partnership is convinced that lessons learned
during this pilot effort will improve the protection
of children not only in these locations but also in communities
all across our state and nation.
